Experience the memory foam difference

While most CPAP mask cushions are made of silicone, AirTouch cushions are made from our patented UltraSoft memory foam material. It's light and gentle against the skin, which helps reduce next-day facial marks for most users. And nearly everyone who tries it thinks it's comfortable. 2 Source: ResMed AirTouch F20 facial marks study: 30-day assessment of 29 evaluable participants who had facial marks with prescribed mask at baseline. Plus, unlike silicone mask cushions which should be cleaned daily, UltraSoft memory foam doesn't require cleaning when replaced regularly. Studies show that AirTouch mask cushions are hygienic to use for one month without cleaning, which is the recommended replacement schedule. 3 Source: ResMed AirTouch F20 bioburden safety analysis of foam cushion material: 60-day assessment of 14 evaluable participants (in place of usual CPAP mask). Frequently asked questions

I'm having issues with my CPAP mask and need help. Who should I contact?

The CPAP equipment provider – the store where you picked up your CPAP mask and device – is responsible for providing you with ongoing clinical support, including answering any questions and helping you resolve any mask comfort or fitting issues that you may be experiencing. Getting used to a mask can be challenging and there may be a different mask option that will work better for your personal comfort needs, so don't hesitate to reach out!

Not sure who your CPAP equipment provider is? We can help, fill out our Contact Us form or simply use our Chat Bot.

How do I clean my mask and how often should I clean it?

You should clean the elbow and frame daily. The headgear only requires weekly cleaning. The UltraSoft memory foam cushion doesn't require cleaning as long as it's replaced regularly. You have the option of wiping it down with a dry cloth or non-alcoholic wipe, but never get it wet.

When mask parts aren't cleaned properly, facial oil and dirt can easily build up, resulting in skin irritation. The good news? Cleaning your mask doesn't take long, so working it into your morning routine should be a breeze.

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR MASK FRAME AND TUBING:

Time it takes: 5 minutes

Supplies you'll need to clean:

  1. Sink or tub
  2. Warm, drinking-quality water (86°F / 30°C)
  3. Mild or hypoallergenic soap, or baby shampoo
  4. Towel

Step-by-step cleaning tips:

  1. Unplug your CPAP device from its power source, and then disconnect the mask's air tube from your device.
  2. Disassemble your mask:
    • Squeeze the side buttons on the elbow and pull the elbow out of the frame
    • Lift and unclip each of the lower headgear magnetic clips from the cushion.
    • Unfasten the tabs on the upper headgear straps and pull them away from the frame.
    • Hold the side of the frame between the upper and lower arms. Gently pull the cushion away from the frame.
  3. In the sink, clean your mask parts (except cushion) by gently rubbing (or using a soft-bristle brush) with warm, drinking-quality water and soap. Avoid harsh cleaning products and dish detergents.
  4. Rinse again thoroughly with warm, drinking-quality water.
  5. Place mask components on the towel and allow to air-dry away from direct sunlight.

Can I use an ozone device to clean my ResMed mask?

Use of ozone may discolor a ResMed mask during the limited warranty period and that will not be covered. Discoloration of ResMed masks is only covered during the limited warranty period if it occurs upon initial unpackaging.

Additionally, the use of ozone with the AirTouch mask may lead to reduced seal performance – that will not be covered by the ResMed limited warranty.

How often should I replace mask parts and can I sign up for a replacement program?

It's important to take regular care of your CPAP equipment – especially your mask, which can be affected by dirt, oil and residue from your skin. Poorly cleaned CPAP masks can cause discomfort and skin irritation. The last thing we all need is another to-do item, so contact your CPAP equipment store and ask if they have a replacement supply program that you can enroll in to get new supplies on a consistent schedule.

Why is AirTouch F20 made from UltraSoft memory foam material?

Most CPAP masks have silicone cushions but the ResMed AirTouch series features a patented memory foam material called UltraSoft. It’s softer than silicone, gentle against the skin and many users find it to be more comfortable. As with any mask, if you experience discomfort, contact your CPAP equipment store to let them know so you can try a different option.
